Left vs Right

Sometimes, I wonder if Baby XJ will be a left handed as I noticed she do things MORE with her left hand vs. her right.

Hubby is left handed, 2 SILs are left handed and maybe, Baby XJ will follow their genes?

Playing toys with her left hand.

Holding the fork with her left hand

Holding balloon with her left hand

And eating with her left hand

Hubby only writes using his right hand because he was trained by MIL who thought that all should write with their right hand. Not until both his sisters are using left hand to write, MIL only realised that her children are left handed species. haha....
Other than writing, hubby with use his left hand to do things. Example,
1) when cutting fruits, he will hold the knife with his left hand.
2) Drinking, he will hold the mug with his left hand.
3) nailing, he will hold the hammer with his left hand.

  3. Dropping by to say 'Hi'!

I read an article claimed that kids are born ambidextrous(means they can use both hands), until they reach the age of 4 they could be influenced by the caregivers and surrounding of which hand they should be more dominant.

And I believe it's the skill that a child acquired should be placed more important rather than which hand they dominant in prefecting the skill. A child grows better without restriction! ^-^

  4. Agree with Alice. Maine also uses her left hand more but I am ok with it. As long as she is comfortable then it's ok lor :)

  5. Let her develop naturally...and learn to cope with this right-handed world. Many lefties do not do as well because they are forced to use the right hand as in Pete's case.

I suspect my daughter's a leftie too...but she ended up writing with her right hand - we did not force her but I guess when we taught her, we would use her right as we would be using our right. I find that now she may use her left for a number of other things.

Lefties are supposed to be more intelligent as they are both left-right dominant!

  8. Ann ~ No. I will let her develop naturally. If can, I hope she writes with both hands! hahaha

Pete ~ hahah...he was beaten with ruler by his mum for writing with left hand. hahah...but both his sisters escape the ordeal as MIL finally found out the lefty genes. haha. No matter how, it is still natural as hubby tends to do things with left hand (except writing).

Alice Law ~ Hi. Thks for dropping by. And yes...we are not going to restrict baby XJ on which hand to use. I will let her grow up naturally.

    Lilhyppo's mummy ~ Ahh...another lefty?

suituapui ~ hahaha...your daughter being influence by her parents/guadians just like what Alice Law said. Hubby was also forced by MIL to use right hand to write but as a lefty, he will automatically do other things with his left hand.

smallkucing ~ LOL...and as long as both hands are functioning well !

Mommy Ling ~ haha...I heard of that too. But I think I'm smarter than hubby la. LOL!

  10. Left or right, it doesn't really matter la... but then, I still pro right hand. Will try to influence C to use her right hand for most things. I'm a right-hander but when it comes to phones, I use my left hand and left ear.. :-)

  11. I agree with Smallkucing...doesn't matter whether the child eventually turns out to be a left- or right-hander, as long as got hands can liao! And may I add....as long as hands can function properly, can liao! :-D

  12. Hehehe we don't force the child to use which hand. But, I notice she will tend to follow us. Like last time when she learn to eat by herself, she was using left hand (she saw me using right hand, but she was sitting opposite of me so is left hand for her). So if I switch to my left hand she will be using her right hand. So indirectly, she is using her right hand more.

To me, left or right does not matter. But it does matter to my MIL! When my gal was much younger and she was using left hand to draw, she commented on it! Geram betul. Her reason being it is expensive being a left handed wor. Like the gold set for left handed, very expensive. Seems like things made for left handed and super expensive.

  15. CH Voon ~ Aww..better don't be pandai pandai. Later I chop my fingers how? haha....

Chloe ~ I read somewhere that listen to phone using your left ear is better. Can't remember the reason already. Something due to heart or brain thing.

Alice ~ hahaha....and that was my answer to smallkucing le (see above). haha

cheeyee ~ MIL also very pantang. That's y hubby write with right hand. haha...But now, since she knows it is in the gene, she did not make noise already. Gold really more expensive for left handed? I don't know about that! haha...lefty are more special gua.

SP ~ She uses more of her left hand, so turned out got more pix showing her doing things with left hand.

Mummy Gwen ~ Ya. I'm not worry but actually I prefer her to be left handed. haha...because look more special ma.
