Art class

YX at the entrance of the art center

Ever since YX was a 2 + years old toddler, he loves to draw. He observed, he traced and some ideas are from his imaginations.

Hubby and I had decided to enroll him into an art class but we were waiting for the right time. We were waiting for him to be ready.

The day had came and as we decided to enroll him, we had a big problem. We search high and low for an art center and to our disappointment we couldn't locate any around our area. The one hubby knew (when he was a child) had already closed shop. We even asked around (relatives and friends) but none can give us any information.

Then, we finally found one but the available time which suits our time was only SUNDAY. We weren't quite comfortable with that because we were off on Sunday and that is the only time we can bring the kids for a short trip / outings.

Out of desperation, I actually when to ask a cashier from a telco company when i went to pay my bill. To my surprised, her friend is actually an art teacher ! What a FATE !

The best of all, her art center is near to our office. Since YX followed me to the office on every Saturday, we had enrolled him for the Saturday morning class. This will leave our precious SUNDAY free.

YX was very happy and excited when we told him we were going to enroll him into an art class. I even brought him along to the art center to enquire about the course. But after the visit, YX changed his mind. He said he does not want to attend any art class because he already knew how to draw !

Hubby and I persuaded him and told him that the art teacher might teach him how to draw his favourite characters such as Ultraman, dinosaurs, lion dance and monsters. After hearing that, he seems to be interested again. Finally he told us that actually he wanted to learn drawing but was afraid of the new faces in the art class. After bla bla bla with him, he finally agreed.

The art teacher strongly recommend Buncho brand oil pastels because of the quality. Since I've already bought the Pelikan brand many months ago, the art teacher agreed to let him use it to avoid wastage.

We waited till the very last day (Friday) to buy all his art accessories. He did not protest but felt rather excited. *A sign of relieve*

Finally, that Saturday came. On the 6 Nov 2010, YX attended his 1st art class with NO FEAR but full of INTEREST. I only accompanied him for about 10 minutes and told him that I need to go back to work. He even said "Bye Bye" to me. At that moment, I felt so proud of him. I told myself that he is a BIG BOY already ^_^

  2. Drawing and colouring is good for kids. It makes them more creative :) Too bad my girl doesn't enjoy colouring. She prefer to draw only. I'm thinking of enrolling her into an art class to build up her interest, but no force.... or else I would be very stressful.

  6. My boy too loves to draw. He enjoyed going to his art lessons and his art teacher was good and patient and it's just around the neighbourhood. We had to stop him when we moved here due to the distance. Apart from Art, he also wants to learn Taekwando, Piano, Science Robotic... and the list goes on.. but time isn't enough. Haiz.

  7. LOL, your boy is destined to learn intensive art! I'd recommend him to have outdoor painting in a park too, or perhaps paint by reffering to some real objects, that will definitely boost his talents!;)

No worries, Pelican is a Germany brand, it has very good quality and definitely one of the best material for drawing! All the best to your boy, have fun indulge in art!

Have a nice day to you!
