Updates on YX @ 29 Jan 2011

Thank you for all the well wishes for YX. Here are some updates on his condition. I've got 1 bad news and 1 good news to share. We will start with the bad news first.

BAD NEWS - YX is still having fever as at of TODAY ! (The 5th days). His fever started since Tuesday and is coming on and off. Normally, the fever will come in the afternoon and midnight with the temperature of between 38 - 39 Degree C. After taking paracetamol, the fever will subside. He is also down with flu and cough.

GOOD NEWS - A blood sample was taken yesterday night. The doctor said YX is on the BORDER LINE of getting dengue. However, it is still NOT CONSIDER as a dengue. Therefore, no hospitalization is required as yet. We will have to monitor his conditions and if his fever does not subside by SUNDAY, we will need to bring him to the hospital.

YX was a brave boy. He was not afraid at all when the nurse took his blood sample. This was his 2nd experience. It was a totally different scenario comparing to his 1st experience, over here.

Before bringing him to the doctor yesterday, I've already told him that doctor is going to take his blood sample. He said OK. In the clinic, he really proofed to us on what he said. When his name was being called, he walked in with me. He sat on the chair with me standing besides him. When the nurse asked him to put out his arm, he did as told. No hesitation at all. The nurses praised him even before his arm was being poke with the needle. He was so calmed and even dare to look at the process of the nurse taking his blood sample. The nurses again, praised him by saying "Pandai Pandai". An easy job for the nurse. I was SURPRISED and so relieved as no need to drag him like a cow with all the crying and kicking. Boy, you are such a brave boy !

Hope we do not need to spend our CNY in the hospital  :(

He is HEALTHY = I'M BLESSED

Many of you already know that YX is a very very active child. The other day, I was really down and hence, posted this. I felt better after receiving comments from my readers and felt so comforting. Thank you everyone!

On Tuesday afternoon, YX was down with a fever @ 39.5 Degree C. He looked so tired with watery eyes and messy hair. When we came back from work, we saw him sitting quietly on the sofa looking blankly on the tv. He just doesn't have the energy to talk to us!

It was the MOST obedient of him. No shouting from us, no complaints from MIL (as he slept right after he came back from school in the afternoon after taking paracetamol) and no fighting with XJ. The house was only filled with XJ's bubbly voice.

Right after our dinner, we brought him to the clinic for a check up. Doctor advised that if his fever does not subside in another 2 days time (that's today), a blood test might be required. But the blur me did not ask the doctor what's the blood test for. Maybe for dengue?

While in the clinic, I felt so sad to see YX so lethargic. Then I remember Gratitude's comment on that post. It was short but meaningful. He wrote ' He is Healthy = You are Blessed ! '

Thank you Gratitude. That short comment actually reminded me that I'm indeed very lucky and am really blessed to have YX in my life. YX was actually born 1 month earlier and glad that he was born as a healthy baby.

Yesterday, he did not attend school and had been sleeping the whole morning. It was a peaceful day without his mischievousness yet I was actually yearning for his Ultraman and Power Ranger's stunts. This morning, he still developed a fever @ 38 degree C and is now sleeping. Boy, please get well soon.

A funny incident.......

I was in town yesterday morning to do some stuffs.......... Maybe CNY is getting nearer and the town was really jammed. People and cars were everywhere. I had to make a few rounds before I managed to find a parking. The parking lot was right in front of a Malay stall selling nasi lemak and some kuih - kuih.

Once I've got my things done, I went to the makcik's stall and bought some kuih-kuih. Not much left. I simply grabbed 3 pieces of kuih kuih and went into my car. I've planned to eat them in my office. Just as I put on my reversed gear, a taxi came and parked behind me.

I saw the taxi man get down from his taxi hurriedly and I quickly opened my car door and shouted for him. I managed to get his attention and told him I wanted to move. To my surprised, he answered me ....

" Please wait a minute. Let me get my breakfast first ! "

I was stunned for a moment and wanted to laugh when I saw him quickly moved on to the makcik's stall. He must be really hungry.

Since I was not in a hurry, I did not argue with him. He can actually take over my parking lot after I left but he choose to let me wait. While he was buying his breakfast, I ate my kuih - kuih in the car.

Have you met such person before ?

PoP PoP

When I was a child, I used to play this pop pop during the CNY. Besides, we have all sort of fire crackers which we don't get to see them in the market already. Those were the days. It was fun. We are always looking forward for CNY so we can lit the fire crackers.

Recently, we saw this box of pop-pop in the shop downtown and hubby immediately bought it.

Bought at RM26

50 boxes of pop pop

Colorful pop pop
To our surprised, it was colorful. I still remember our pop pop was only WHITE in color. Now, they have such colorful ones.

This are both YX and XJ's 1st time playing with pop pop. To think back, we are not sure why we did not buy the pop pop for the past few years. Hmm...............

YX can't wait till we go back home. He got so excited when we told him what pop pop is and how to play the pop pop. Hubby then took out 1 box and let him throw at the side of a busy road in town.

YX happily throwing his pop pop

Carefully taking out 1 pop pop

Back at home, YX quickly ran to tell XJ about the pop pop. We brought the kids to the road side to throw (so I don't need to sweep the floor) and both enjoyed themselves.

YX sharing the pop pop with XJ

The colorful pop pop
Maybe before CNY, the 50 boxes of pop pop will be gone ^_^

S2 City Park

Normally, we will bring the kids to the Park in the morning because the air are fresher, less crowd and the kids are more energetic as they just woke up from their sleep. So, can expect less crankiness especially from XJ.

YX love to pose cheekily
Previously, whenever we visited this park, we will bring packets of bread to feed the fishes and tortoises in the pond. However, the kids no longer find that interesting. Instead, we brought something else. Bicycles and bubble guns !

YX ridding on a hands-me-down bike from his cousin. He still need the training wheels to help him balanced.
It is quite troublesome to carry the bikes up and down the car but hubby enjoyed doing it. Haha....

XJ on her hands-me-down bike from her cousin too.
Both YX and XJ can cycle on their own independently. However, YX was very playful. He always cycled very fast even numerous warnings were given. When he did not managed to press the brake on time, he fell. But that does not stop him from cycling in F1 style. Sigh! This boy.....

XJ loves the bubble gun.
When they had enough of cycling, they will play with their bubble guns. Hubby bought these at the Parkson's warehouse sales last year at RM9.90 each. Normal price was around RM20. We then bought a big bottle of refillable bubbles solution from Tesco. One litre for only RM5.90.

XJ can hold and shoot the bubble quite well.
Saw the tights she was wearing ? Mum bought that for her at RM9 after a 50% discount from Tesco. Sadly, XJ was ALLERGIC to it ! After wearing it, she develops rashes all over her legs and body. I've since packed it up and handed down to my brother's baby girl.

XJ's sweet smile.....
You might also noticed the blouse she was wearing. For the past few posts with XJ's picture, you will see this piece of blouse. I love it very much and that's why, whenever we went for outing I will get her to wear it. haha ..... It was a gift from SIL when she went for a holidays to Taiwan 2 years back. She bought 2 pieces - 1 red and 1 white. The white color is still too big for her.

Cheeky boy ....
YX may be a very mischievous boy, but actually he is a very timid boy. He won't dare to play at the playground if there are lots of other kids. He will rather stick to us then to play.

He no longer afraid of the swings
I still remember coaxing him to sit on the swings but he dare not. Only when he was around 4 years old, he finally built up some courage to try it. Now, he loves it but only swing at a slow pace.

The bubble guns can shoot out a lots of bubbles.

Love this pictures with lots of bubbles surrounding it
With the bubble guns in hand, they abandon their bikes.............

Here comes TROUBLE

My boy have a pair of 'itchy' hands. What should I do ?

Everytime when we went back home after work, we will sure hear a lot of complaints from MIL. She will be telling us "Your son bla bla bla......Your son like this, like that....." without fail. We really do not know what to do with him. He loves to JUMP, RUN, and have all the energy for the whole day, NON-STOP.

We had already subscribed for the Playhouse Disney channel @ Astro recently, just for him but he is very selective when comes to cartoon. NOT ALL CARTOONS he will watch except for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Tom & Jerry and Mr. Bean.

The other day while watching tv, he saw an advertisement on instant noodle. Quickly, he ran to the cabinet (he seems to know where we kept the things) and ransacked 2 packets of noodles. One for himself and one for XJ. MIL was busy with her things and did not noticed on their hanky-panky. By the time she realized, both kids had already OPENed up the packets and munching on the UNCOOKED noodles. Thus, that 2 packets became our next day breakfast.

Myojo mee poh goreng.
The uncooked noodles are so tasteless. Wonder how the kids swallowed them.
If that's not bad enough......let me share with you another story.

I bought this multivitamins for the kids. Normally, I will only give them 1 each, daily. The supplements are kept on the cabinet (all along on the same spot for months) and not easily reachable for both kids. That day, the devil in YX must have given him some really cool idea. He took a stool, climbed up and help himself to the bottle of multivitamins without MIL's knowledge. As a good brother, he shared the multivitamins with XJ. By the time MIL saw, it was already too late as both YX and XJ were enjoying away.

The kids treated this as their CANDIES........

When MIL told us about this matter, I was really worried of the overdosaged. I poured out and counted. To my horror, 8 tablets were missing. Minus 2 (daily dosage for each kid), which means both kids ate an extra of 6 tablets ( in total ) of multivitamins that day !!!!! I'm sure YX ate more than XJ. However, MIL did mentioned that both kids drank PLENTY of water.

Only half a day at home, YX can already create so much of trouble. I won't dare to think what will happen if he does not attend school and at home all day !

Does your child at such age so energetic and hyperactive as well ? Or do you have any stories of super hyperactive kids to share with me here ?

Is it ok to be hyperactive ? I'm blessed that XJ is not like her brother (maybe not yet ? ) Maybe girls are more obedient?

White color

YX can be very lazy when comes to coloring. He will only colors when he is in the mood. During the long school holidays last December, I checked on his coloring book and found that most of the pictures were either half colored or some 3/4 colored. I asked him why didn't he finished coloring them. I laughed when he answered me ....

Unfinished work, but YX claimed that it is completed !

" Oooo....Those are WHITE in color. So no need to color them".

He drew the stars and colored them. I did not noticed them until he told me !
The bubbles were left uncolored.

Only a lazy boy can come up with such excuses, but a good one indeed !

A day trip to Genting

On the 14th Jan was Negeri Sembilan's PH. We took this opportunity to bring the kids to Genting. MIL and SIL tagged along. Too bad, we need to work on the next day (Saturday). Else, we will sure stay a night there.

We left at around 7am and headed straight to Genting with an empty stomach. The weather that day was real good. Very misty and windy.

Our first stop was at the Chinese Temple. We are not religious. We did not even went into the temple to pray. Basically, we just love the scenery and statues in the temple. A great place to stopover for some photo takings.

YX doing some stretching after a long car ride

YX got too excited and climbed all the way up without waiting for us

Love this misty pagoda.

Both kids posing with one of the statue in the temple.

YX's favourite - The Monkey God.

Asking the kids to hug and smile, they gave me this pose !

We had a light breakfast at the temple. There is a stall selling fried noodles, nasi lemak and some fried stuffs. After spending about 30 mins at the temple, we proceed to the hill top.

When the kids saw the indoor theme park with all the arcade machines, they were so excited. They ran from one machine to another. Too bad, their parents were so stingy and did not even change any token for them to play. haha..... We were afraid the kids won't have enough and kept on asking for more. So we just told them SEE AND TOUCH ONLY.

YX was fascinated by this sophisticated game machine. With huge screen and designed for preschooler height.

XJ shooting with the huge gun

XJ on a kiddy ride

YX on a kiddy ride
Even we did not spend a single cents in the arcade, not even on the kiddy rides, both kids ENJOYED themselves so much. We had a hard time luring them away from the arcade to proceed to other place.

The colorful First World Hotel
We then proceeded to the Snow World and as usual, SEE ONLY from the window outside. The ticket price was freaking expensive at RM20 per person (adult and child same price). If I were to bring both YX and XJ, I'm afraid I can't handle both of them at the same time. If hubby were to follow us in, we will need to pay RM60 for the 3 of us with XJ still FOC. I don't think it is worth it. I told hubby jokingly that YX and XJ will have to study hard in order to see and experience snow when they further their studies overseas in the future.

After lunch, we decided to take the monorail ride (caterpillar look like train) which circle the whole Indoor + Outdoor Theme Park. Price at RM8 per adult per ride. Surprisingly, the ticketing staff did not charge YX for the ride.

It was a relaxing ride and we were lucky because once we reached the final station, it started to rain heavily. All rides (involving outdoor) will have to be halt till the rain has stop. Once YX get down from the monorail, he requested for a FASTER ride in the future. He commented that the monorail was moving TOO SLOW.

We left Genting at around 2 pm. As usual, XJ was too tired and slept in the car. However, my energizer bunny YX still have full bar of battery. He did not sleep throughout the whole journey. Once we reached home, he quickly grabbed his bike and asked me to accompany him to cycle ! I was so groggy and how I wish I could just lie on the bed and sleep. Nevertheless, his battery worn out at night. By 8pm he was already sound asleep !

A surprised for my parents

On the16th January were my parents' birthday. Both were born on the same date, same month.

We had already pre planned to go back to Johor to celebrate the Birthday with them but did not tell them our plan. Just wanted to give them a surprised !

On Saturday night, we took a slow drive down after work. The journey took about 2.5 hour. Hubby was held up at work and we only left at around 6.30pm.

As we arrived, coincidentally mum was outside throwing rubbish. Due to ageing, her eyesight was not good and when she saw our car, she couldn't recognize it immediately. She looked left and right and even ran to see the car plate. LOL ! I was waving at her inside the car but she did not noticed it. Soon, her 'blur-looked' turned into a broad smile when she finally saw us. The happiness on her face was just priceless !

Mum quickly carried XJ into the house and called out to my dad who had just dosed off on the sofa while watching tv. Dad was surprised when he saw XJ and thought he was dreaming!!! He just couldn't believe what he saw.

Both my parents were so happy to see us.

My brother and family too came back but both my parents already knew earlier because my brother had a wedding dinner to attend.

Our trip back was a short one but worthy ! After lunch on Sunday, we headed back home. My super energizer bunny aka YX did not even sleep all throughout the journey home even he woke up at 7 am that morning. He really has all the energy while both hubby and I were so tired. XJ knocked out soon we started the journey.

Mum & Dad,
Happy Birthday ! May you two be blessed with happiness and good health.

YX doing OT

I thought YX's school work is all about writing. I never expect there will be coloring as well.

Bad mummy.....I only prepared his stationaries at the very last minutes. And that day when he required to do some coloring, he has got no color pencils at home. YX has got 2 boxes of color pencils but are all kept in my office due to this incidents last year.

This forced him to work OT...........

YX doing some coloring. XJ wanted to join in the 'fun'.
Coincidentally that day, we came back late. Around 7pm. After we took our dinner and bath, I quickly get YX into the room to complete his homework. By the time he finished everything, it was already nearly 9pm.

XJ took YX's eraser and 'rub' on Patrick's tail !!
Glad that XJ did not disturb YX even she insisted to sit beside her brother.

Glad that YX obediently completed his homework without me needing to show the 'magic wand'.

After that night, I quickly prepared a mini bag completed with a pencil case, pencils, erasers, ruler and a box of color pencils. Did I miss out anything else ?  Oh yes....a sharpener right? We have yet to buy a good one. Currently, he is using those small and round shaped with a mirror on the other side.

Pet Shop

Hubby is those type of person who does not keep things back at the original place. As the Chinese always said ' 没有手尾 '.

Whenever he reads the newspaper, it will be everywhere around the house. It can be found in the bedroom, living hall, dinning table and sometimes even TOILET.

Whenever he finished drinking water, the glass will be on the table. Sometimes, on the floor and sometimes UNDER the table.

The other day, I found 2 pieces of his shirts tugged underneath a big bolster. Naturally, I nagged while picking up the shirts and YX overheard.

He quickly ran over and asked " Papa naughty? Then we change a NEW PAPA !"

I laughed and asked him HOW?

And he spontaneously replied "Go to the PET SHOP and see if they sell PAPA or not. We can BUY a new papa".

Oh dear....he thought his papa is an animal ! haha....

Boy oh boy....... sometimes, $$$ can't buy EVERYTHING !

XJ @ 2 years 4 months

XJ is exactly 2 years 4 months today. I was too anxious and told hubby that she is going to be THREE and hubby said "Come on ! Her Birthday is still a long way to go !" I don't think the same. She is growing up fast and I really miss her baby years. And you will noticed that I no longer address her as Baby XJ in this blog. She is a big girl now and I would love to address her as only  XJ ^_^

XJ putting on MIL's sunnies.

1) Still as 'manja' as before.

2) Asking questions non-stop

3) Love to fight things with YX. Whatever YX has, she will want EXACTLY the same item.

4) Starting to have the same habit as YX - asking for milk TWICE before willing to sleep

5) Want BOTH hubby and I. When I accompany her to sleep, she will ask where is papa. When hubby accompany her to sleep, she will ask where is mama.

6) Prefer noodles more than rice

7) Only licks the cream of the bun / cookies and refuse to eat the remaining.

8) Can't draw a proper picture yet but will simply scribble and tell you this is the eyes, the mouth, the ears, etc...

9) Lazy to walk and prefers to be carried when we went out shopping. At home, she will wants you to carry her up the stairs.

10) Very observant. When we ate out (a table of 10), and if 1 person is not at his/her place, she will ask "Where is so and so?"

11) When she farted, she will quickly said "Mei mei farted, excuse me". LOL. Love her honesty.

12) When she heard one of us fart, she will innocently asked "You farted? cho - cho (smelly) err..... and make you embarrassed.

13) Can recognized Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. And also Ah Beng !

Ah Beng from Myfm

14) Drink plain water from tumbler (without straw). Still using milk bottle to drink milk

15) Enjoy putting coins into the 'piggy bank'

YX's FIRST homework

* Today is a special day with the date 11.1.11. Therefore, I've scheduled this post to be posted at the time of 11.11 am. *

When I first enrolled YX into kindie, the principal already told me :

1st year (3 & 4 years old) ~ PLAY more than STUDY
2nd year (5 years old) ~ PLAY & STUDY are balanced. Will have homework to bring home.
Final year (6 years old) ~ STUDY more than PLAY. Will have to prepare them for primary school.

YX is now in his 2nd year in the kindie. Since school started on the 3rd Jan, I had been anticipating for him to bring back some homework but did not see anything. I was too excited and asked him everyday if he did received any books, but he said NO.

Finally, on 7th Jan he brought back his 1st homework. Glad that MIL ensured that he finished up his homework before he can watch his cartoon. Glad that he finished up his homework before we came back from work. Glad that he did as what was told and did his homework obediently.

Simple writing - A & B in upper & lower cases.

Some Chinese writing - tracing dotted lines.
He was too eager to do his homework until he did 2 extra pages from what was supposed to do. By the time MIL saw, he had already finished writing.

His homeworks are simple but it is a good beginning.

Water play

After reading about this Splash Park @ The Mines from My Little Sprout's blog, I got so excited and couldn't wait till after office hour to tell hubby about it. I quickly sms-ed him and told him I've got a plan for that coming Sunday and glad that hubby was so supportive and agreed to it immediately  ^_^

Anything for his little darlings will be granted.

We arrived at around 10am, just as the park open. Operating hours is at 10am -10pm. There were 3 sections on the park - The open air fountain-like area, The swimming pool (water at knee length) and The playground.

Mushroom like fountain

Water shooting gun

When the water are fully filled, the containers will turn and pour out all the water.

XJ collecting some water leaking from the shooting gun.
Of all the 3 areas, the kids enjoyed the swimming pool the most. The pool has got no decorative items or slides, but the kids enjoyed themselves dipping in this icy cold water.

Water around knee length.

XJ enjoying splashing the water

Discussions ?
The water was really cold but the kids did not complaint at all. Unlike at home, they will complaint when the water was not warm enough to bath. They spend almost an hour in the pool, walking up and down and splashing each other. Both were so happy.

Glad that they did not protest when we told them "Enough and time to bath". XJ was actually shivering when the wind blows. I quickly carried her to the washroom (next to the pool) and bath her. I was so worried when  I saw her shivering and thought I could warm her up a little at the washroom but too bad, the shower were icy cold water too. Everything are FOC, so can't complaint too much. haha

I quickly bath her clean. While putting cloths on XJ, I asked YX to bath on his own, quickly. This is the first time YX took his own bath and I just got to close 1 eye. Back at home, I gave them a thorough bath again.

After they took their bath, both still did not get enough. They proceeded to the playground and we spend another 15 minutes or so over there.

XJ at the playground

Wheeeee......YX slides down

Wheeee........XJ slides down.
Finally, we left the Splash Park as YX said he was hungry. We found a place to sit and I made a bottle of warm milk for XJ while YX had some cakes which we brought from home. Knowing that they will be hungry after the water play, I got to prepare some food for them. While they were eating (hubby looked after), I quickly did some shopping. I managed to buy 2 pieces of blouses from the shops nearby.

We walked around The Mines before we when for our lunch. XJ was showing her tiredness as she was not very cooperative and started to demand for this and that. Glad that YX ate his lunch obediently. Hubby felt irritated too and decided to leave for home. That was around 2 pm. In the car, both kids slept. They continue with their slumber even we reached home and I got to disturbed them twice before they finally wakes up at around 6pm. Looking at their long afternoon nap, you can guess that both did not sleep early and this morning, I had a HARD TIME waking YX up for school. He cried a little mumbling he wanted to sleep as he was very tired. Not only YX, both hubby and I were very tired and had a hard time waking up this morning too! If only today is a HOLIDAY...........

Ambitions

During the long school holidays, YX followed me to the office every working days. Along the way from home to the office and vice versa, he must had observed the surrounding and one fine day, he told me ................

Ambition 1
YX : Mama, when I grew up, I wanted to be a GRASS CUTTER !  *so proud of his ambition*
Me : What ? Why of all job you choose this ?
YX : That day I saw some men cutting grasses at the side of the road. I want to be like them too.

Next day.....

Ambition 2

Growing up

In my previous post, some of you commented that Baby XJ grows up a lot. I did not realized it until I looked back at some of her photos and noticed that YES, she grew up A LOT.

2 years old Birthday
Sometimes, she spoke like an adult. She really makes all of us laugh. She is good in intimating us and is very talkative.

2 years 1 month. Enjoying Tiger Biscuits by just licking the cream and left the biscuits for me
She loves to provoke her brother by saying "Koko naughty, mei mei good girl", even YX was sitting quietly watching cartoons. YX will argued with her by shouting "NO" and XJ will fight back by shouting "YES". This will go on and on until I need to take out the cane to stop their argument.

2 years 2 month.
Whenever she saw koko was being punished by us for being naughty, she will quickly ran over and tell us "Mei mei good girl, mei mei did not jump. Mei mei did not shout", even before we managed to praise her for being good.

2 years 3 month. Mum bought this Vietnam costume for XJ. I intended to let her wear on the CNY's eve during the reunion dinner.
When she was bitten by the mosquitoes, she will be whining and whining. She refused to apply any medications or salt to stop the itch but insisted you to scratch it for her by pulling your hand. She will enjoy sitting beside you feeling so 'manja'.

Photo was taken last week. Her new toy - baby doll. She will sometimes speak to the doll, asking her questions and answered on behalf. She will pat the doll and sing her to sleep. The doll courtesy from my dad.
She loves to ask questions non-stop to every answer you gave her. There was one time I said "Baby, stop asking me questions for a moment, ok?" and she ASKED BACK "WHY STOP ASKING YOU QUESTIONS?" * faint *
