Splashing fun @ home

Inflatable swimming pool with a slide
Rewind back to 6 years ago, hubby and I bought this set of inflatable swimming pool for our nephew's First Birthday. Little do we expect that our own kids are now playing with it ! For the past 6 years, this pool was only used for once and had been kept in the store room ever since. Everyone forgotten about it until recently.

From this picture, I realized how THIN my boy is.
Last weekends, the kids' cousin came over and the adults diligently set up this inflatable swimming pool for them to have fun. If you do noticed the above picture, it was dark. We only set up the pool after work (around 6pm) and to pump in the air is not an easy job at all !

XJ with her signature post (stuck tongue out)
However, seeing them enjoying every seconds, worth all the hard work ! At first, we used a mini pump to fill up the inflatable pool, but that took us like forever. MIL then suggested to use her multi-functional vacuum cleaner to pump in the air. It was so easy and we don't even need to use our mighty strength.

Happy faces in the pool
The next day, the kids had fun in the pool again after breakfast. It was such a hot morning and I even had the urged to jump into the pool with them. But I did not because I would feel embarrassed if the neighbor spotted me ! haha

YX enjoying splashing under the hot sun
We will be doing that again soon and time to collect the rain water. Maybe I should enroll my kids for swimming lessons since they both love water so much !

He asked for it !

Saw the tiny scars on the left side eyebrow?

The above picture was taken 3 days after the incident. The scar may looked small, but on the actual day, it swell and looked RED.

This boy of mine is never quiet unless he was unwell. The other day at home, he was playing with XJ. MIL was busy at the kitchen preparing dinner when she heard a loud cried. She rushed out and found my boy crying profusely with his hand covering his left eye. MIL got panicked and thought something poked YX's eye.

When my boy finally calm down, he told MIL what happened.

MIL couldn't believe that this cheeky boy could thought of doing something so dangerous !

Well, all he did was ..............................

CLOSED BOTH EYES, RAN AND BANGED ONTO THE WALL !!!!

Sometimes, I really wonder if he is too bored ?

Count down

Everyday, YX will bring back 2 books from school to do. When comes Friday, he will bring back 4 books and usually, he will be doing them in the office on Saturday morning.

Color the smaller number

After colored, it will look like this. By the way, this page is color the bigger number

Concentrating coloring...........but why with his mouth wide open ? View the below video and you will know.....

What a playful boy I have !

And when he knew he couldn't finish coloring them in time, he prolonged the number 2 by reading TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........

He did not noticed that I took a video of him. But when he did noticed it at the end, instead of feeling shy, he was so PROUD of himself and even asked me to take more !

How The Fight Started

I was browsing for some info via google and stumbled upon this jokes. Not sure if any of you read this before, but hope you enjoy reading them !

1. When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace
expensive.... So, I took her to a gas station.....
And then the fight started....

2. My wife and I were watching 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' while we
were in bed. I turned to her and said, "Do you want to have sex?"
"No," she answered. I then said, "Is that your final answer?"
She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying "Yes."
So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend."
And then the fight started....

3. After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for
Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my
driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized
I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry,
but I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said,
'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair.
She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me'
And she processed my Social Security application.
When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the
Social Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants.
You might have gotten disability, too'
And then the fight started.....

4. Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch,
grabbed the dog, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the
boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour.
The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on
the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day. I went back
into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. I cuddled up
to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The
weather out there is terrible.' My loving wife of 10 years replied,
'Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?'
And that's how the fight started ...

5. My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I
kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a
nearby table. My wife asked, 'Do you know her?' 'Yes,' I sighed, 'she's
my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split
up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'
'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating
that long?'
And then the fight started.....

6. I rear-ended a car this morning.
So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out
of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and
little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... He was
a DWARF!!! He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted,
'I AM NOT HAPPY! So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then
which one are you?'
And then the fight started.....

7. I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my
order first. 'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.' He said, 'Aren't
you worried about that 'Mad Cow?'' 'Nah, she can order for herself.'
And then the fight started.....

8. A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.
She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel
horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'
The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's darn near perfect.'
And then the fight started ...........

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

And I pretty like the below poem (is that what u call it ?)

Don't think of the PAST, it brings TEARS
Don't think of the FUTURE, it brings FEARS
Think PRESENT and BE HAPPY, it brings CHEERS !

Hope you do have a good laugh on the above jokes and have a happy day !

Sinful doughnuts

Today, I have a crave to eat these doughnuts. Both my kids and I simply loves them so much. Even they are sweet, eating them once a while should be ok, ya . No no....have not been eating them for months already. The above picture is an old picture which SIL took it long long ago. Looks like gonna hunt for these doughnuts soon. Do you like this type of doughnuts too ?

Maths

* Some updates @ My Arts, My Inspirations. Please hop over. Thx *

A few months back, dearest gong gong and popo bought a rim of A4 paper for YX to doodle.
One fine day, I saw YX was busy with his 'work' but did not bother to check it out because in my thoughts, it is going to be another drawing from him. I did my things and suddenly, YX came running to me while holding that piece of paper and say "Mama, see this".

I was surprised ! Was really surprised and happy at the same time. He took the initiative to do some maths and most importantly, he got them all CORRECT !
A huge relieves too knowing that he understood the concept and did pay attention in the class ^_^

To make him happy, I marked his work and gave him 3 happy sunshines while he was sleeping. The next morning when he woke up, I showed him the marked paper and a broad smile plastered on his face instantly. It was priceless !

I wrote the date at the bottom right just to remember when it was done.

And I told him WELL DONE my boy. Please do that again ^_^

Doctor, doctor Part 2

XJ was alright already and next, YX was down !  :(

On 13 April, when we reached home after work, MIL informed that YX was having slight fever. He just woke up from his nap but looked active. I quickly check if he was having running nose / cough (which is common when a kid has a fever). He looked fine to me. He has got no other complaint except for headache.

14 April - He was still having slight fever and we had decided not to bring him to school. I brought him to the office instead. He was still as active as normal and was very mischievous too. But why is he having fever then? His appetite was good and he doesn't look sick at all !

But in the afternoon, YX started to complaint of headache and wanted to sleep. I decided to bring him to visit the doctor at the Govt clinic. To my surprised, YX's fever rose up to 39 Degree C. Back to the office, I quickly sponged him while he rested. After work, we brought him to visit our normal pead. for further check up. The pead. checked his throat, ears, etc and did not detect any infection. He was puzzled too why YX was having a high fever with no other symptom. By the way, his temperature was at 38.8 Degree C at that time. The pead. even suspected YX might have caught the flu bug which has not showed out yet. Anyway, he advised to bring YX back again if his fever does not subside. In the middle of the night, YX shivered and I felt his body was very hot. I quickly inserted a suppository and continue to sponged him.

All these while, I did check with him if he was having sore throat, stomach discomfort, ear pain, mouth ulcer, etc but he has got no complaint. I even checked his throat and mouth to see if any ulcers, but none.

16 April, YX started to complaint of sore throat. This time, I could  see some white spots on the side of his throat. I quickly bring him to the doctor again (govt clinic as our normal pead was closed that day) and the doctor commented YX caught a lot of germs !

A blood test was done to determine if it is a viral infection or not. YX had been very cooperative during the blood test and the results - It was NOT a viral infections.

Doc. prescribed antibiotic x 5 days for him. After 3 days of antibiotic, YX had fully recovered and the white spots in his throat had gone ! He is now back to his normal mischievous self.

I still continue to give both kids their supplements and hope they will be able to built a stronger immune system in their tiny bodies, soon. Hope we will visit the doctor less....

The pead even mentioned that once a kid goes to school, they will get sick very often. If too worried, we will have to stop YX from going to school for a few months for him to built up his body's immune system. Impossible isn't ?

Doctor, doctor

Ha...looks like I've been missing for a while. Have been busy lately with work and with the 2 kids. Both went to the doctor on a separate date and different case. Let's talk about XJ first.

On 12 April, while I was about to eat my dinner, XJ requested to poo. I helped her to sit on the potty and thought I could quickly take my dinner after that. But she yelled for me.  I went to see what was wrong and she seems to have some difficulties to do her business. I sat beside her telling her to take her time while I can see her trying her best. Nothing came out. After about 10 minutes, XJ started to cry and mumbling "pain".

I quickly carried her to the toilet and asked her to squat instead (hoping by squatting will help her to release) but still nothing. She was scared and wanted to give up. MIL then suggested to buy medication from the Chinese Medical Hall. Quickly, she and hubby went and bought back the medication. A 5 minutes wait was like 5 hours to me that day. XJ was sitting on the potty waiting and dare not poo. She was still crying and mumbling "pain".

When MIL and hubby were back, we quickly insert the medication into her anus and hoping for some good news. Still nothing. We inserted the 2nd tube and still nothing. Maybe we do not have the skill / done the wrong way ? This had frighten XJ even more. I got panicked too and don't know what to do.

I even pour some olive oil (for hair) on my palm and rub her anus hoping to make it lubricated and try to help XJ to 'dig' out her stool. Oh my! her 'gold' was really HARD like a stone and there are just no way it is coming out. XJ was too tired and she nearly FELL ASLEEP on her potty !!!

No choice, we brought XJ to the hospital. The doctor used the same method (pump in the medication into her anus) and advised me to bring her to the toilet immediately. XJ was afraid and refused to enter the toilet at first, but maybe she have got the urged (the medication was working) and allowed me to bring her in. Soon, her 'gold' fell like atom bomb and we were both relieved !

XJ still cried pain but was fine after a short rest in the hospital compound. Looking at her earlier, really scared me and felt so pity for her. Not going to let this happen again.

I took my dinner at 10pm that day. Ya...I still have the appetite and was damn hungry!

Seafood

I'm a seafood lover, but not hubby. He doesn't enjoyed eating shellfish even he do eats them. Sometimes, he will just take a piece of prawn and sometimes, he will rather not eat them at all. For me, I love all type of seafoods except for - 1) Mussels  & 2) Cockles.

Lately, I've noticed that XJ are following my footsteps. She loves seafood as much as me ! She will request for prawns and crabs served on the table. And she can munch very fast. Faster than munching her rice !

However, YX is just like his father who don't like seafood. Not even a bite of prawns and he does not want to try new food. But he always makes me laugh when he said he will only eat seafood when he is 8 YEARS OLD. Sometimes, he will said 10 YEARS OLD depending on his mood. Funny boy.

And I'm happy because I've found a 'kaki' to accompany me to eat seafood in the future ! haha..... and a 'kaki' to accompany me to go shopping. Recently, XJ has also been asking "are we going to Jusco?" whenever we are in the car. No other destination, but only Jusco.

Kissing

Every night before bedtime, I will give both kids a peck on the cheek.

One night, YX wanted to kiss on my lip. I refused as don't want him to have the wrong message. I said we can only kiss on the cheeks and forehead. Kissing on the lip are very dirty because got saliva. haha. Partly, I don't want him to have this type of habit lest he kiss his classmate or anyone on the lip.

I wanted to laugh when YX answered me "Ah Ma's tv show (TVB DRAMA) always showed the koko and che che kissing on the lip !!!!

Hahahaha.........I was speechless !

My lady boss

My lady boss
This few days, I'm bringing XJ to the office because MIL needs to temporary take care of my SIL's 2 month old baby as the nanny who took care of the baby was away for a holiday. Since YX needs to go to school in the morning, I brought XJ instead so MIL won't be so tight up with 3 kids !  So far, XJ had been a very good girl.

Yummy milk
Yesterday morning as I was in the hurry, I forgotten about her milk bottle. No choice, I got to serve her milk with mug and straw. She doesn't enjoyed her milk that day as she was not used to drinking milk this way. At the end, she did not managed to finish her milk!

opps....some milk on her chin
But luckily she was not a fussy pot. She still drank the milk despite she kept on asking where is her milk bottle.

XJ loves to eat those 'balls'

After her milk, I gave her some grapes. Her favorite fruits and she always tell me grapes are ball ball. haha....

Getting tougher ?

YX wearing a mask in the children's wad (quarantine room) in the General Hospital @ Jan/Feb 2011

YX sleeping at the pead clinic sofa while waiting for his turn @ early March 2011
Looking at the above 2 pictures, it always reminded me of how weak YX was. In this year 2011, YX had visited the doctor in two different occasions. The first picture was during the CNY weeks whereby he was diagnosed with Influenza B. The second picture was last month whereby he was down with diarrhea and vomiting.

Now, in the month of April, YX was having flu and cough. But I've noticed that it was just a mild one. So, my prediction was maybe I've constantly gave YX his multivitamins, cod liver oil and fresh vege + fruits diligently and that had help? even he still fell sick?

In the early of March, I've been giving both YX and XJ Scott's Emulsion Cod Liver Oil without FAIL every night before bedtime. Previously, I did give them this cod liver oil but I always forgot and did not give them everyday. Ended up, they ate in vain. On top of that, I've also gave them multivitamins EVERYDAY (since early March) and Vitamin C (since last week). Hubby too did his part. He will sliced fresh fruits for both kids after dinner EVERY NIGHT and make sure they ate them. In addition, I will cut green vege and add into their meals.

I hope by pumping those supplements and fresh fruits plus vege into their diet, YX and XJ will not fall sick so often in the future. Or maybe recovered faster ?

Dilemma of where to service the car

When the car was still under warranty, we sent to the original workshop for servicing. When the warranty period was over, FIL advised to bring the car to those private workshop for servicing as it will be cheaper. I did what was told and had blog about it over here. (By the way, the below servicing center I'm going to talk about is not at Perodua).

After sending our cars to the private workshop for some time, we had noticed some flaws. When we told them about our car problems, they just said no worries. They did not detect any defects at all ! Hubby was worried and asked me to bring the car back to the original workshop recently.

Few days back, I went and was told that the mileage of my car at that moment required Major Servicing which cost an estimated of RM800 ++. I was shocked because all these while, I've never paid so much to service a car. But I've no idea what does a major service inclusive of.

In the private workshop, the most I paid was only about RM140 per service. All they do was changing black oil and oil filter.

Since I was already at the original workshop, I agreed with the normal servicing (change black oil, oil filter and xxx oil - can't remember the name) which cost me about RM200 including labor charge and 6% govt tax. And the technician did some other inspections as well. That was being shown in the jobsheet that the customer service lady showed me before I agreed with the servicing.

The technician then found that the front brake pad are getting thinner and suggested to have that changed during the NEXT service (in another 3 months time). Then I requested for the lady to give me a quotation on that item and it cost RM 474.80 excluding 6% govt tax (the rear brake pad are still usable)
Hubby and I was thinking if we should seek a 2nd opinion from those private workshop or not. By the way, this car of ours just turned 5 this year.
Dilemma dilemma.........car maintenance aren't cheap !  Where do you usually sent your car for servicing and How much do you pay for your car servicing ?

Trolley

Happily pushing the trolley
When bringing XJ for shopping, she insisted to push the trolley for us !  In Tesco hypermarket, they have those mini trolley, but it was unavailable that night. I was trying to tricked XJ to sit inside the trolley but she refused. Oh by the way, YX was already sleeping at that time at home.

She even refused anyone of us to hold or help her with the trolley. As the trolley was too big for her, she had difficulties in pushing yet she refused our help. So I will have to keep my eyes on her to make sure she did not knock on somebody else or bang into the shelves, especially the pile of eggs !

This little girl, the more she grew up, the more demanding she was.

Big trolley + Big slippers
And in a hurry, she wore YX's slipper out that night !
