Earrings

Chubby XJ with her newly pierced earrings. Photo taken on 6th August 2012
On the 6th August, it was the Goddess of Mercy's Birthday (Guan Yin Dan) and we brought XJ to have her ears pierced. It was her request afterall.

She came back from school one day and told us one of her friend's ear got a ribbon shape hanging there. After analysed what she said, I told her it is earrings. She got so excited and told me she wanted to have earrings too.

I told her it will hurt a little and if she doesn't mind, I will grant her wish. Surprisingly, XJ can really bear the pain. She was not afraid at all and was so confident sitting quietly for the jewelry's staffs to pierce her ears. They pierced both ears together to avoid XJ chicken out after having 1 side pierced. It was a good idea.

Back home, she was happily looking at the mirror turning her head left and right looking at her shinning earrings. It only cost us RM12 (earrings + piercing) to make a little girl so happy. Up till today, she was still admiring her earrings so much.

Homework that requires drawing

12 different shaped  (I should have off the flash !)

Before the school holidays, YX came back with some homework which required him to write and draw. When comes to drawing, his eyes will lit up immediately. However, when comes to writing, he will give all kind of excuses and showed 'I hate writing' kind of face.

When he was doing the above, I was having my dinner. I was not aware of what he drew until after dinner, I checked his homework. I was smiling to myself seeing how this boy have such a passion to draw. He doesn't mind to use extra time and effort to WOW us with his drawing every time.

Brotherly love

Even YX is a very mischievous boy, I'm proud to says that he never fail to be a loving boy, especially towards his sister. He always amused me with his 'worried-looked' and plead with us not to leave XJ alone.  Be it at supermarket or arcade area inside the shopping mall,  when we said 'Let's go', YX will be the first one to hold our hand and follow obediently. However, XJ will be the one being rebellious and ignored us. We will pretend to walk off and YX will be shouting for us to wait for XJ by pulling our hands to stop us from moving and at the same time, shouting for XJ to follow us quickly ! haha

Whenever we offer him something, he will always remind us to give XJ a share too. Yesterday, XJ was having her nap and YX wanted to watch Mickey Mouse cartoon (DVD). He touched my heart by saying, "Wait for mei mei to wake up first so we can watch together !" And he really waited XJ for about an hour.

As loving as he may be, YX is also good in acting !

Few days back, he wanted to eat some biscuits. It was nearly dinner time and I did not allowed. He turned away with a sour face and came back minutes later telling me loud and clear "Mei Mei is hungry. She wanted to eat some biscuits !"

Luckily I did not fell into his trap ! haha....... I told him I knew it was him who wanted to eat and not XJ. I promise the biscuit treat after their dinner. Smiling cheekily, he admits and at the same time, he showed his brotherly love again by reminding me to give XJ a share too !

Tiny tails

Happy little girl
MIL enjoys a lot to decorate my little girl's hair. Every morning, she will comb and tie XJ's hair in various pattern and will use hair clips that matches the colour of her dress she wore. Even teacher praised MIL for her patience and skill. Last Saturday, XJ did not follow me to the office. Since nothing to do at home, MIL uses about an hour plus to tie up hundreds of tiny tails for XJ.

Hundreds of tiny tails
Not really hundreds as I did not count but I will just assumed there were hundreds of them. XJ was also patience enough to sit at one place obediently for MIL to tie her hair up. MIL slowly plaits one by one.

Neatly tied up
And she did it neatly too !

Brotherly love
As YX saw me taking photos of XJ, he also 'sibuk' and requested for a photo together. He hugged XJ and I really love to see how he sayang his little sister, while XJ enjoying being loved by her brother.

Due to long hour of hard work and XJ already had her hair washed before her hair being plaited, MIL suggested not to untie the plaits, but instead let XJ sleep with them on. Since no rubber band tied tightly near her scalps, I agreed. XJ agreed too and doesn't even mind to sleep like that !

Another brotherly love
The next morning, the plaits still looked neat with one or two started to loosen. If you did not look closely, then it was fine. We brought the kids to shopping mall and YX eagerly hugged XJ again for a photo shot !

Making funny faces and pose
The kids were so happy posing for me.

More poses

'Instant noodles' hair
Back at home, I rushed the kids to take their bath after a whole day of outings. While YX took his bath, I helped XJ to untie the plaits. Oh my, not an easy job at all ! I took nearly 30 min or so to remove the rubber band from the end of each tiny plaits. I was so tired and wanted to give up half way but i still have to remove them as XJ needs to have her hair washed. After managed to remove all, her hair looked like instant noodles ! haha

As I'm happy to have MIL to help me around with tying up XJ's hair, but I do hope MIL won't do this kind of plaits anymore because it is really time consuming and I'm definitely not a patience person to slowly removed them ! hahaha

Chicken Pie

Chicken pie topped with black and white sesame seeds
After seeing so many bloggers baking chicken pies, I was tempted to do them too. The other main reason was actually I have a lot of leftover chopped onions and button mushrooms for my home made pizza.

Don't know what to do with them, I suddenly remember that chicken pies need those ingredient too and why not I try to make some. I followed Anggie's recipe and made my own pastry crust. It was quite easy to make and I was glad the crust turned out successful for my first try.

chicken + potatoes + mushrooms pie
For the fillings, I use my own recipe. I seasoned the chicken breast with garlic salt and pepper. Then, I deep fried the potatoes and chicken before stir fried with the mushrooms and onions.

Once the pies were cooked, the whole house was filled with strong buttery aromas. I just can't help myself to take a deep breath every time I walked into the kitchen. Haha....

Pink toes

Last week, once we arrived home after work, XJ rushed towards us excitedly to show us her newly painted toes. MIL applied the nail polish for her. This little girl, at such a young age, she is already a vain pot. haha

pink toes

Did you notice the 3rd toe was not painted ? She lost her toe nail few weeks ago
Few weeks ago, her leg accidentally trapped under the door and she lost one of her toe nail. When MIL was applying the nail polish, she reminded MIL not to apply her 3rd toe. After applying, she has got thousands of questions to ask.

~ Can I put down my leg ?
~ Can I walk ?
~ Can I take my bath ? etc, etc, etc ......

When she put on her slip in sandals, she was so excited, telling me that she can still wear her shoes even her toes are 'mei mei' (beautiful). hahaha......

The great game

I'm not into sports but I just wanted to post this up because my kids made me laughed so hard yesterday night while watching the Badminton game.

I think most Malaysian watched this really amazing game between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan. It was such a good game to watch but can really gave us heart attack ! haha

Both my parents were in Seremban this week, and they too watched the game. As MIL asked me to bring something for my parents, I left home when Lee Chong Wei was leading the game. When I reached brother's house, I quickly rushed inside and was glad that Lee Chong Wei was still leading. Minutes later, he won 21 - 15. Everyone cheered for him. Then, I continued to watch the 2nd game at my brother's house but Chong Wei was behind of Lin Dan this time. So I quickly drove home to continue with the game because I know there will be a 3rd game.

Just as I reached home, the third game just started and together with my kids, hubby and MIL we cheered for Lee Chong Wei. This just reminded me of my childhood time when my whole family watched the Thomas Cup and we were cheering for our Malaysian team too. That time, I pretty like the double pair Cheah Soon Kit and Soo Beng Kiang.

The kids were as excited as me. YX even hold the newspaper with both player's face in it and told me "See, this two 'koko' here are the same as the one in the tv now". After the game ended, both kids went to sleep as it was late. In the bedroom, YX told me he likes Lee Chong Wei. Upon hearing that, XJ quickly says that she likes Lin Dan ! To my surprised, YX told XJ that Lin Dan is not a Malaysian. We should support Lee Chong Wei instead.! haha........these two kids.

Anyway, Lee Chong Wei played a really great game yesterday. He makes all the Malaysian proud to have won the Olympic Silver Medal twice ! Congratulations Chong Wei ! You are still the best !

Grey hair

Recently, I noticed I have lots of grey hair underneath my black hair. I was quite shocked as grey hair symbolized aging. In fact, I should just admit that I'm indeed old. I'm already a mother of 2 and my eldest will be going to primary 1 starting early next year. So, it is just not surprising that I have grey hair. But, somehow I just can't seems to accept this fact.

I still remember seeing my mum plucking her grey hair in front of the mirror when I was a child. Probably in my primary school days. I always asked mum why the hassle to pluck away those grey hairs? They are your hairs too. Mum would said they looked ugly and it will be very obvious telling people that you have aged.

Now, it is my turned and I just finds it hard not to pluck away those grey hair whenever I visited the toilet. The mirror above the sink is just like a reminder telling me to pluck some before I leave the toilet. Automatically, after I washed my hand, I will flip up my black hair to look for those grey ones and pluck one strand after another. It is just so tempting to get rid of them.

This makes me think too. I've noticed men are not so particular in removing their grey hairs. My dad and most uncles have grey hairs and they don't seems to be bothered. Maybe, men looked wiser with a head full of grey hairs !

While women, they are rather particular. Mum and aunts even went to have their hair dyed. Some went to saloon while mum and other aunts uses 'Inai' to dyed their hair. Instead of black, they have shiny dark golden brown hair. Nice colour though.
