A night in the hospital

Last weekends, we went to Penang for a 3D/2N stays. Once we were back home (arriving around 4 pm), I quickly bath the kids. XJ took her nap after her bath. She looked tired. When she woke up 2 hours later, she developed a mild fever and complained of stomachache. She had diarrhea. The next morning, her fever was still a mild ones (between 37.1 - 37.5 Degree Celsius), but I allowed her to skip school.

However, she complained of stomachache again. I thought she was hungry and made her a small cup of milk. Minutes after she drank the milk, she vomited. I quickly brought her to the clinic for a check-up and was told to monitor her conditions. If her stomachache persisted, I have to bring her to the hospital immediately.

After seeing the doctor in the clinic, XJ suddenly turned better. She ate a small bowl of mee suah soup and finished them very quickly. No more vomiting and diarrhea. In the evening time, she even managed to attend her ballet classes. She looked energetic.

Just as I thought she was fine, her fever suddenly shot up to 38 degrees during the night. I sponged her and fed her medicine again. The next morning, her whole body was very hot and again, she complaint of stomachache. I quickly bring her to the hospital and her fever was 38.9 degrees.

Doctor said she looked a bit dehydrated and required to be on drips. A nurse bathed her with cold water to bring down her temperature. She cried but she was very cooperatives. At the mean time, doctor suspected she might have appendix due to the symptoms ~ fever, diarrhea, vomiting and stomachache. Doctor admitted her for 24 hours observations. And on this date ~ 16 Jan was my parents' birthday. While waiting to be warded, XJ called gong gong and popo to wish them Happy Birthday. With tears in her eyes, XJ still managed to wish her grandparents. Hahaha......

After 8 hours of drips, doctor off the drips and checked on her again. No more fever and no more complaint of stomachache. She looked fine and can eat again. Glad that it was not appendicitis. It was more of a viral infections. I think we ate too much hawker food while in Penang.

After the 24 hours observations, we were allowed to go home. XJ is all healthy again but this morning, I noticed 2 tiny ulcers on her lip. Hope they will heal soon.
