The end of Art Class

Since young, YX loves to draw. When he was 4, I enrolled him to an art class but that did not last long as he ended up crying whenever I wanted to sent him over. He said he doesn't have any friends and he was afraid of the teacher. I respected his decisions to stop after he attended for nearly a year.

After about 6 months break, I enrolled him into a different art center and this time, XJ goes with him. He got a companion and loves this art center a lot. Up till today, both kids had attended the art class for 1 year and 2 months. However, this time I was the one who had to stop YX for attending the class.

YX did not pay attention during art lessons and all he did was PLAY ! XJ wasn't that bad as even she did played, she still managed to complete her work in time. As for YX, he was totally out of controlled. He will run around the class, very mischievous and he did not put in his effort and heart to colour. Honestly, he HATES COLOURING. This might be the main issues why YX does not enjoyed his drawing class.

Teacher commented YX loves to draw and can draw very well. He is very creative in his drawings. However, when comes to colouring, it was totally an opposites. He doesn't have the patience and lazy to do toning. Hence, his drawing ended up very messy and not up to the teacher's expectations.

During this month, there will be a drawing contest and initially, teacher thought of submitting YX's drawing but after he had done the colouring, teacher changed her mind. Sad isn't ?

Both hubby and I had decided to stop YX totally from this art center as he doesn't have the disciplined to learn. He did not managed to complete his drawing every week and he is just wasting his time attending this art center. His art teacher agreed to allow YX to stop temporary and she welcomes him back at any time.

It is a bit sad for we know he had the interest to draw, but he doesn't have the heart to learn. Well, he chosen it and we shall just let miracle happens. As for XJ, we decided to stop her temporary too. She is ok with our decision. Maybe we will enroll her again when she is older.

YX was forced to colour the picture because it was his school's homework. He always complaint when doing colouring. For more Robot pictures, click here.

  1. Ya...don't force. Let the kids do what they enjoy. Not everyone is artistically inclined. Like how I hated/hate sports...so don't force me into taking up any game...seriously.

Maybe let him do on his own at home will be better. Art sometimes best if given free hand

  5. Gwen's coloring is really bad. I intend to enrol her to an arts center to learn toning. YX likes drawing robots eh..Gwen likes to draw dinos and animals.

I think he is creative and draws quite well..let him do it on his own and see how.
